The Portuguese SME developed an innovative solar thermal panel for domestic, business or
construction project application. The product combines the benefits of air conditioning and
ventilation, as well as solar thermal water heating. The solar thermal panel, manufactured with
high-quality materials and innovative construction, answers 90% of the building’s energy needs
with renewable, solar, energy. The company is looking for investors, venture capital or others
to help market the product.
Full Description
The Portuguese SME has over 30 years of experience in solar and thermal energy projects,
including undertakings in HVAC, solar PV systems and solar thermal systems.

The mission of this project is to speed up the transition to renewable sourced energy to help
decrease the energy industry’s carbon footprint and decelerate global warming and climate
change.

The solar thermal panel combines the benefits of air conditioning and space ventilation, and
solar energy water heating. High-quality materials and state of the art construction
technologies make it one of the most desirable solutions for a sustainable building. It brings to
the table the following technologies.

- Hot Water Heating – Inside the panel there is a single harp piping system with
circulating water. As the panels warm up, so does the circulating water, which can
then be used for climatization or sanitary hot water consumption.
- Air heating – With the help of natural convection and a duct system, the air flowing
inside of the panel warms up and enters the building keeping it warm even during the
winter.
- Free Cooling – The panel system can control the airflow intake and outtake, allowing it
to work as air conditioning in order to cool down the building, even during the
summer.
- Air renovation – Special developed intakes and outtakes allow the renovation of air
inside the building, keeping it always fresh and compliant to air renovation rate norms.

The product has the following specifications:
1. Solar Safety Glass – SPF tested uncoated safety glass for lighter yield
2. Solar Absorber – Aluminum single harp absorber with mirotherm® coating
3. Insulation – Special rigid foam insulation
4. Frame – Extruded anodized aluminum stable frame
5. Fixation system – Lightweight solid fixation system made of aluminum
6. Air Intakes – Steel intake and outtake airflow system

As for installation and placing, the system is completely modular with simple assembly and a
self-sustaining infrastructure. The implemented area of the technology will depend on the
energy needs of each building. The system was also developed with the goal of being applied
in facades.

The Portuguese SME is looking for investors, venture capital or others to help market the product.
Advantages and Innovations
The SME’s new innovative solar thermal panel is a big step into achieving an energy
sustainable building and was produced specifically to comply with the new 31/2010 NZEB
(Nearly Zero Energy Buildings) directive.

The main advantages can be outlined as the following:

- It is a new initiative to lower the ecological impact buildings have on the environment.
- Less greenhouse gas emissions
- Economical solution, saving money and energy.
- Energy consumption is almost equal to the amount produced, harvesting the most out
of clean, renewable, energy sources.
