General information
- Short Summary
- A UK based SME specialising in recycling and waste processing, that transforms waste Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) into durable shelters designed for refugees and people experiencing homelessness. The SME seeks partnerships through commercial agreements and investment agreements to expand its impact and improve access to sustainable housing solutions.
- Full Description
-
The UK based SME was formed in 2019 from a research and development project, by the School of Engineering at a leading UK University. The founders were focused on utilising waste materials such as plastic bottles and rubber to make sustainable new products within the construction industry.
The SME now repurpose waste Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) into durable, weather-resistant shelters designed for use in humanitarian aid and social housing projects. By diverting PVC waste from landfills and transforming it into practical, long-lasting structures.
The shelters produced by the SME are lightweight, easy to assemble, and provide reliable protection against harsh weather conditions. They are designed for rapid deployment in disaster-stricken areas, refugee camps, and urban spaces where temporary housing solutions are required. The use of recycled PVC ensures cost efficiency, durability, and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional materials. These shelters can serve as emergency housing, community spaces, or temporary medical facilities, making them suitable for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), government agencies, and private sector partners involved in humanitarian aid and social development projects.
The SME are seeking international cooperation through investment agreements to scale up production, improve shelter designs, and expand distribution to regions with high demand for emergency and affordable housing solutions. International cooperation is envisioned through partnerships with investors interested in supporting innovative, sustainable housing projects.
In addition to this, commercial partnerships with international NGOs, humanitarian agencies, and government bodies are also sought to facilitate the deployment of shelters where they are most needed. The SME is open to working with construction and logistics companies to enhance transportation and installation efficiency. Through these partnerships, the company aims to contribute to global efforts in providing sustainable, affordable, and dignified housing solutions. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The SME offers a sustainable solution for emergency and affordable housing by transforming waste PVC into durable, weather-resistant shelters. Unlike conventional temporary housing solutions made from wood, metal, or fabric, their shelters provide superior longevity, resistance to extreme weather, and easy maintenance. The use of recycled PVC significantly reduces material costs and environmental impact while ensuring structural integrity.
The lightweight yet robust nature of their shelters, which allows for quick assembly without the need for specialised labour or heavy equipment. This makes them ideal for rapid deployment in crisis situations, including refugee camps, natural disaster zones, and urban homelessness initiatives. Additionally, the modular design enables customisation based on specific needs, offering flexibility for different applications such as emergency housing, community centres, or temporary medical facilities. - Stage of Development

Partner Sought
- Expected Role of a Partner
-
The SME seeks international partners to support its mission of providing sustainable shelters through supplier and investment agreements.
For investment agreements, they seek financial partners, impact investors, and organisations interested in funding innovative, eco-friendly housing solutions. Investment support will be used to expand production capacity, enhance shelter designs, and establish distribution networks in high-demand regions. Investors with experience in sustainable infrastructure, humanitarian aid, or circular economy projects are preferred.
For commercial agreements they welcome collaboration with NGOs, government agencies, and humanitarian organisations that can facilitate the deployment of shelters where they are most needed.
