General information

Short Summary
A Dutch company specializing in wave energy conversion technology is looking for suppliers of high-performance generators with specific technical capabilities. These generators will be integrated into the company's Kaizen 2.0 wave energy system. The ideal partner will have off-the-shelf generators or experience in designing and manufacturing generators that meet demanding technical specifications. Collaboration under a supplier agreement is preferred.
Full Description
The company is developing an highly scalable wave energy conversion system designed to generate electricity from ocean waves. To achieve optimal performance, the company is seeking a generator supplier capable of delivering high-performance generators suited for fluctuating mechanical input in a marine environment.

The wave energy conditions for this project are based on research data, primarily using wave patterns from Deltares. The reference wave conditions used for modeling have a height of 0.75m and a period of 4.5s. For more extreme sea states, the system is expected to experience even greater fluctuations in mechanical input, requiring the generator to maintain performance across a broad range of conditions.

Suppliers must be able to deliver generators that meet these criteria and demonstrate reliability in a marine environment. Additionally, the ability to provide prototype units for testing and validation is highly desirable.

The company is looking to establish a long-term supplier agreement to ensure consistent availability of the required generator units. Beyond supply, the company is open to co-development opportunities, allowing for tailored generator designs that optimize performance for this specific wave energy application.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
Generator manufacturers, engineering firms with expertise in generator design, or suppliers who can meet the outlined specifications:

- Power Output: Peak power of 10 kW, possibly divided over two generators
- Nominal Power: To be determined based on system efficiency requirements
- RPM: 0 to 250, fluctuating in a sinusoidal pattern
- Torque: 0 to 500 Nm, must withstand high torque without overheating
- Additional Considerations:
- Mechanical brakes to shave off power peaks, or alternative power electronics solutions
- Adaptability for fluctuating wave energy input
