General information
- Short Summary
-
The French company based in the Lyon area is a pioneer in the manufacturing of recycled elastomers, derived from old sneakers and tennis balls.
They built their first production unit in France, source the raw material locally, and create a new material: regenerated elastomer / rubber.
The produced EPDM rubber granules are 100% decontaminated from other materials.
They are suitable for the construction of playgrounds, multi sports floorings, tennis courts and bike paths. - Full Description
-
Each year, 750 000 tons of old sneakers and tennis balls are collected in Europe & the US and then incinerated.
With this in mind, the company's founders have commited to decarbonizing the sports industry by transforming raw material considered as waste into a new raw material that can be used in the construction of bike paths, playgrounds, multi sports floorings, tennis courts.
The environment-friendly production process (no chemicals, no water) includes 3 steps:
1/ Feedstock: sneakers are sorted by category, and tennis balls are loaded whole
2/ Material separation: through a highly efficient separation chain, the raw material is sorted and shredded, becoming in the end granules of materials, 99% decontaminated from each other
3/ Regeneration: rubber and EVA are restored to a state close to virgin material.
The AI-generated material formulation allows to optimize properties, LCA, toxicology compliance, and integration rate.
The company offers a catalog of 10 custom materials. - Advantages and Innovations
-
The patented process is driven by several years of R&D
Cost of the recycled rubber is lower than cost of virgin material of similar range.
The company built the world's largest database (10 million datapoints) on technical elastomer expertise, including formulations, LCA calculations, toxicology compliance, properties, and processing parameters.
The company developped its very own softwre, AI driven, able to produce the best formulations to optimize LCA, enhance properties, and ensure toxicology compliance - Stage of Development
