General information
- Short Summary
-
The Swedish SME offers a system that both predict the upcoming amount of ice on the wind turbines and also measure current status which provides decision support and enable the planning for the operation of the wind power park the next coming days. This increase the time of operation of a wind power park with up to 10 percent, which essentially increase the efficiency and the output of energy.
The SME is established on the Swedish market and is looking partners for a commercial agreement. - Full Description
-
The SMEs system is based on advanced image processing and analysis and AI. The system can this way identify snow and thin ice on the wings of the wind turbine. The information is used to plan and optimize operation of the windturbine in order to get the best output in terms of energy production and minimize interrupts of operation.
The system is based om research which in parallel with the image analysis, numerical simulations were conducted to model the process of ice formation on turbine blades. Various techniques, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Method (FEM), and Lattice Boltzmann simulations, were used to simulate different freezing scenarios. These models helped predict how environmental factors such as temperature, wind speed, and humidity influence ice formation and snow accumulation. - Advantages and Innovations
- The system is based on a series of R&D-projects and technology.
